• Don't stress! Stress only makes matters worse. Instead, find a medium in which you feel comfortable conversing with others. Whether that is stepping aside from a large group of people to have more intimate conversations, or limiting your conversations to one-on-one.
• Stand directly in front of the person with whom you're speaking. This will allow you to direct your focus on them, as well as opening the door for you to be able to read their lips, should your loss require this.
• If you wear hearing aids, remember that reminding others of this will only be beneficial to you in the long run. Directing others not to scream when they're speaking is one way of avoiding an uncomfortable situation.
