Tips For Safe Trick-or-Treating This Halloween

Halloween is a very exciting time of the year for children and parents alike. While walking through neighborhoods to collect candy, it is important to make sure that you are being as safe as possible - especially if you're celebrating the holiday by going trick-or-treating with children!

A couple of tips for trick-or-treating this Halloween:

• Make sure that your child's costume (or yours!) doesn't cover hearing aids. This could alter the sound quality and make it more difficult to pick up surrounding noises such as oncoming cars.

• Make sure that you pack extra batteries if you're trick-or-treating with a flashlight.

• Don't let children eat candy as they're collecting it - take it home and inspect it first to make sure that there are no torn wrappers.

• Hold hands while crossing streets! Make sure that you're waiting for crosswalk lights before you cross any intersections.
